Mandy, I am so sorry for what you have been through. Now I am praying that mine does not spread to other parts of my body. They will be doing the whole round of clotting factor tests in a couple weeks. I'm glad they checked you for abdominal cancers because migrating superficial thrombophlebitis is considered a Trousseau sign or syndrome. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trousseau_sign_of_malignancy There is much more information to be found regarding Trousseau. I will have another doppler next week and I pray my basilic thrombus will have shrunk. I wish you the very best and thank you for responding to my comment so very quickly. You will be in my prayers.

Hello Mandy, A week ago I was given an IV in my right arm prior to a routine colonoscopy. Two days later I developed pain and redness in my arm near the IV site. A Doppler image of my arm found a superficial thrombus in my basilic vein from the IV site up to my middle arm. Then three days later, redness and swelling started on my lower arm. Yesterday's Doppler revealed another superficial thrombus in my Cephalic vein close to my wrist. The thrombus in my basilic vein is the same as it was a week ago. I have been on 2 antibiotics, 1 aspirin a day (325) and ibuprofen. The doctors are puzzled. Your initial problems seemed similar to mine. Did they ever resolve the issues you were having? What sorts of tests did they run? Thanks in advance for your response and I hope you are doing much better.
